NSOM Center, Inc. wants to hear from you. How can we help our young people and in turn help our community as well. After all, our youth are a reflection of our present community. It is like the old addage, the fruit doesn’t fall very far from the tree. The young people are the fruit and the community is the tree. So what does it say about us as a community???
And I thought I was the sensible one. Thanks for setting me straight.
How would you like to host a Straight Talk Forum in your town for the youth to come out and ask questions about anything to a panel of local community leaders to help them get information that will lead them to make more informed choices today that lead to more successful futures tomorrow.
Let me know if you are interested and I will send you the format to begin!!!
take care,
Vanessa
Our kids want to be policemen, firemen, Miss America, stars, Businesmen and Businesswomen, doctors, lawyers, artists, preachers, presidents and anything career choice they want when they are young. Why don’t we help them??? they often get into their teens and before you know it they are sexting, making out under bleachers, being popular girls and popular jocks. They don’t realize that the choices they made as children and teenagers have now become a part of their life record especially with the internet and “YouTube” videos that appear without their knowledge just when they are ready to graduate college and move into the professional world. These choices can creep into their futures and end them or forever alter them. We need to help them be aware of their actions at an early age and teach them how to protect their futures while they are young enough to have one. A “Miss America” should never have a video to pop up the day after she has been crowned that shows her in a negative or embarrassing light. These are just some of the examples that people may be familiar with, but there are other scenarios that come up in the lives of young people with promising futures that cause them to be derailed in their tracks. It happens to adults too, but let’s just focus on the youth for right now. Grown ups that do foolish things are on their own hence “gro own.” I thought that was cute.

Our youth need to know that we love and respect them at their age. They also need to know that older folks have been through what they are going through right now and with all types of results, some good; some bad. Proverbs talks about wise counsel and experience being a wonderful Teacher, I strongly suggest that young people take a closer look at the lives of their parents, neighbors and senior citizens and allow what they have gone through to be a blueprint for their lives.
We absolutely love your blog and find many of your post’s to be just what I’m looking for. Do you offer guest writers to write content to suit your needs? I wouldn’t mind publishing a post or elaborating on some of the subjects you write concerning here. Again, awesome website!
Kids are people too, so we must treat them as such. They can understand complex issues if explained and they have a right to know if the family is going through hard times. They may even have solutions to offer.
